John Schneider has brought the Toronto Blue Jays to the World Series for the first time in 32 years.
Becoming a first-time manager during the 2022 Blue Jays season, the now-45-year-old has had his fair share of doubters during his time in charge of Canada’s lone MLB franchise.
With the Blue Jays losing Game 5 6-2 on Friday night in Seattle, Schneider faced heaps of criticism for his bullpen decisions, including turning to struggling reliever Brendon Little in what some fans thought might’ve ultimately cost the team the season.
Fast-forward to late Monday night, and Schneider was firing off expletives on national television again as the team won its biggest game since Joe Carter’s walk-off home run in 1993.

“This is f***ing unbelievable for me… these fans, this country, I f***ing love it here,” Schneider said in a postgame on-field interview with Sportsnet.

In the clubhouse, Schneider gave an impassioned speech to his players before opening the champagne bottle.

Revisiting his own mindset heading into the eventual two wins in Toronto, Schneider shouted out his staff as helping the team get the two crucial victories to clinch the American League pennant.
“If you’re not learning you’re falling behind, and if you’re not counting on people who support you, you’re going to get lost, you know?” Schneider told Offside in a postgame press conference after the win.”
But while there’s plenty of baseball to be played later this week, Schneider just might have a few drinks in the next 24 hours or so.
āI’m going to enjoy the hell out of tonight and probably tomorrow too, to be honest, and then get back to being the skipper of the Blue Jays over here,” Schneider added late on Monday night.
The Blue Jays now face off against a team that’s been the class of baseball for nearly a decade, as they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers starting Friday at the Rogers Centre. The Dodgers have been to the World Series four times since 2017, winning it all in 2020 and 2024.
“To get to where you want to go, you got to beat the best, right? Whether it’s talent, payroll, whatever you want to call it, man, they’re a damn good team,” Schneider said.
