Joe Rogan has a few gripes with Canada.
UFC 315 is set to be hosted in Montreal in May, but the iconic announcer will not be in attendance. While the 57-year-old has sworn off travelling abroad for international UFC events, the trip to Canada would hardly be the hassle of potentially going to Europe.
Yet, it doesn’t appear that Rogan sees it that way as he not only said he would not be in attendance for UFC 315, but also threw a few shots at Canada in the process.
“I won’t be there,” Rogan said on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “I don’t go to Canada anymore… I’d rather go to Russia.”

Rogan was also not in attendance for UFC 297 in Toronto last year, so it shouldn’t come as a massive surprise that he won’t be at the Bell Centre for this upcoming event.
While he didn’t explicitly detail his reason for the backhanded comment, the former Fear Factor host is relatively close with U.S. President Donald Trump, whose administration has taken an aggressive stance toward Canada since coming into power earlier this year.
The two countries are in the midst of a trade war spurred on by the 78-year-old president. Trump has also made numerous comments about Canada giving up its sovereignty to become the 51st American state.
The uber-popular podcast host did comment on the 51st state narrative as well.
“That’s never going to happen,” Rogan said. “I had a conversation with Trump about it, he goes ‘I started calling him Governor Trudeau just for fun and then a lot of people were saying it’s a good idea, maybe it is a good idea.'”
