The NHL Draft is taking place virtually for the first time ever, and the Ottawa Senators took full advantage of it.
Armed with three first-round picks, the Senators got Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek — a University of Ottawa graduate — to announce their first pick, third overall.
Trebek did so in perfect game show fashion from the Jeopardy! studio. The Canadian icon announced the category was “The NHL” before providing the answer: “With the 3rd pick in the 2020 NHL Draft the Ottawa Senators choose this player.”
Following a dramatic pause filled with the Jeopardy! theme song, he provided the answer:Â “Who is Tim Stutzle?”

What a way to be introduced to the NHL.
Trebek is universally beloved, and an inspiration to many, as he has been open about his battle with pancreatic cancer. So it’s no surprise that fans absolutely loved it.
Wait…They got TREBEK?!

Tim Stuetzle is the first player in NHL history to be drafted by Alex Trebek.

That is some Grade A usage of Alex Trebek during the NHL Draft.
It might be the best moment in Senators history since Pageau's four-goal night in the playoffs.
