Bringing with it a theme of “eternal happiness,” Jehovah’s Witnesses Canada is hosting a huge event that will descend on Vancouver this week.
According to a press release Daily Hive has received from Jehovah’s Witnesses in Canada, over 10,000 people are expected to attend the multi-day event.
The press release states that the event comes at a time when “happiness eludes many.”
“The Witnesses are one of the largest non-profit convention organizers in the world, and after seven years, they will return to the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, B.C., with a free, three-day program that explores how everlasting happiness can be achieved through spirituality founded on practical Bible principles,” the press release adds.
The event takes place from June 5 to 7 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, one week before the FIFA World Cup kickoff. Jehovah’s Witnesses Canada says that the event is expected to draw attendees from across the Southwestern region of the province.

According to Jehovah’s Witnesses Canada, interest in the Vancouver event is high. Organizers say some of the “intriguing” topics include:
- Abundant Happiness Forever — Is It Realistic?
- Why Are You Anxious?
- Have You Discovered the Treasure?
Jehovah’s Witnesses Canada says that last year, it hosted over 6,000 conventions in almost 500 languages. This year’s event will include English and Tagalog sessions. In Canada, there are around 125,000 Witnesses.
According to online reports, there have been many famous Jehovah’s Witnesses over the years, including Prince, Serena and Venus Williams, and members of the Jackson family.
Throughout the years, there has been a lot of controversy attached to the faith, including medical restrictions that the general public has criticized. Recently, the BBC reported that the Witnesses eased rules on blood transfusions. According to the BBC, some former members of the faith suggested that the move didn’t go “far enough.”
While it’s bringing numbers, it won’t quite eclipse the massive AA convention that came to Vancouver last year, which was the largest in the city’s history.
