Jake DeBrusk is a famous multi-millionaire professional hockey player with the Vancouver Canucks, but he seemingly went totally undetected a card show recently.
Turns out that DeBrusk is super into collecting Pokemon cards.
DeBrusk appeared in a video posted by a card collector at the Overtime Card Show in Calgary, where the Canucks winger lives during the offseason.
Wearing a purple onesie costume, “Shiny Card Collector” had no idea he was making a deal with pro athlete.
“We’re here with Jake. He’s coming in with a big trade.”
DeBrusk came prepared, throwing down multiple Pokemon cards and a huge pile of money.
“We got a lot of cash on the table right now,” Shiny Card Collector said, as the camera panned to well over $1,000 in cash.
“It’s going to a really good home.”

When asked how long he’s been collecting Pokemon cards, DeBrusk said: “About five months now… it’s an expensive hobby.”
DeBrusk appropriately listed his favourite Pokemon as Kyogre, which sure looks similar to the Canucks’ orca logo. But that still didn’t ring a bell for anyone.

The collector confirmed in the comments section on YouTube that he didn’t know who DeBrusk was, and that this was actually the second deal he’s completed with the Canucks winger.
“He’s a crazy negotiator,” the collector said.
