So you think you can brunch?

We’re sure you’ve had a ton of practice if you’ve lived in Vancouver, but the city is about to get a brand new spot that’s undeniably epic.

Calgary-based OEB Breakfast Co. is gearing up to unveil its first-ever BC and non-Alberta location in Yaletown next week, and we got a sneak peek into the beloved brand’s new outpost before the doors opened for real.

The 1137 Marinaside Avenue space (formerly the Hurrican Grill) has been completely transformed into a vibrant, fresh room complete with living moss walls and broken eggshell-inspired lighting.

OEB’s signature yellow is splashed everywhere in the 148-seat space, which also boasts one serious sun-trap of a patio.

If you’ve eaten at OEB in Calgary you might know what we mean when we say epic.

The farm-to-table eatery works hard to bring patrons the best fresh local produce, meats, and seafood, ethically sourced and straight from the producer to the table in front of them.

OEB’s carefully-chosen ingredients include products from the in-house microgreen garden, charcuterie fridge, and eggs from its very own flock of hens, making the menu even more impressive than its sheer size.

The new brekkie spot offers a large selection of farm-fresh classics like bagel sandwiches, steak and eggs, and more which come complete with the diner’s choice of duck fat fried herb potatoes, wild arugula, or fingerling potatoes.

From there you have nine different kinds of benedicts served with brown butter hollandaise. Get everything from truffled squash to smoked boar, rabbit, and crab varieties.

The signature OEB poutines are likely where your eyes will land if you’re a first-timer here. These are pretty legendary and also give you bang for your buck. From lobster to tuna crudo, hog and scallops to duck confit, this spot does not shy away from selection.

One serious must-try though is the Gold Digga poutine. A combo of poached eggs, duck fat fried herb potatoes, Saint Cyrille curds, free-range Berkshire roast pork, black truffles, and hollandaise.

Inventive items such as the Waffle & Laks and the vegetarian Indian Inspired Bagel made with an artisan bagel, vine tomatoes, Hass avocado, fior di latte mozzarella, truffles, and extra-virgin olive oil are all delicious and Insta-worthy.

Speaking of photos, you’re going to have to order a sweet selection from this spot, even if it’s just for social media.

We opted for the Sweet Dream Are Made Of This!, a mammoth combo of French toast stuffed with New York style cheesecake and topped and Baileys crème anglaise.

This is just scratching the surface when it comes to OEB’s offerings. The eatery also offers a plethora of juices, beers, wines, and brunch cocktails which pair perfectly with the grub up for order.

OEB Yaletown will be open to the public on May 13. Its hours will be from 7 am to 3 pm seven days a week, and a reservation system will soon be implemented for booking from Monday to Friday.
