A Vancouver Giants scout went viral earlier this week for all the wrong reasons.

Terry Bonner, the 85-year-old head scout for the Giants, made the rounds earlier this week when speaking with WHL reporter Cami Kepke following the 2026 WHL Draft.

Kepke asked about what made third overall pick, Eli Vickers, the right choice for Vancouver following the draft.

Bonner’s initial response was “Well, thank you very much for the question, you good-looking girl.”

A clip of the exchange made the rounds online, with one repost by World Hockey Report now nearing 2.5 million views on X.

On Saturday, the CHL stepped in, fining the Giants $5,000 for “conduct detrimental to the league.”

“Accountability is a cornerstone value of our League,” WHL Commissioner Dan Near said via a press release. “That includes both players and staff.  In this instance, regardless of intent, the remarks are not reflective of the organization’s standards of respect and inclusion.”

Bonner has been with the Giants organization since their inception in 2001. In 2021, he was promoted to head scout.

Kepke has been working in sports media for over a decade, with previous stops working for CTV and Global News, along with her current roles with the WHL and Flames Nation.
