The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is currently investigating the homicide of a 25-year-old male found in a Chilliwack residence.

According to RCMP, he was discovered on Thursday, June 7 at approximately 5 am. Officers were called to the scene of a residence on the 45000 block of Wellington Avenue after receiving a report of an individual in medical distress.

The man was suffering from life-threatening injuries and although he received treatment from emergency personnel, he succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Both the RCMP and IHIT declared that his injuries were “consistent with homicide inside the home.”

Since then, IHIT has taken control of the investigation.

They’ve most recently confirmed that the identity of the victim is Zacharia Nicolli Cross, a 25-year old male from Chilliwack. According to police, Cross was known to police and associated with drug activity.

Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT also comments that although it’s still early in the investigation, they “believe Mr. Cross was targeted for murder.”

Authorities are still in the process of gathering evidence in the investigation and have not released any further details at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448.
