The Vancouver Whitecaps continue to have one of the lowest payrolls among all 30 teams competing in the MLS.
The MLS salary guide, which features all the league’s salary information, was recently published for fans to view. The Whitecaps sit 22nd amongst all 30 teams with a payroll of roughly $15.7 million, which is slightly higher than it was one year ago.
Below is a list of where each of the 30 teams ranks. As shown, the Whitecaps have a significantly lower payroll than Toronto FC, but are ahead of CF Montreal, which has the lowest payroll in the MLS.

Seeing Inter Miami at the top of this list should come as no surprise, as they are paying Lionel Messi a jaw-dropping $20.4 million per year. There are only nine teams in the MLS with a higher payroll than the salary Messi commands.
Meanwhile, the Whitecaps’ highest-paid player remains Ryan Gauld. The Scottish midfielder has a guaranteed compensation of $3.675 million. The Whitecaps have three others that command seven figures in Andres Cubas ($1.15 million), Mathias Laborda ($1.04 million), and Brian White ($1 million).
