11-month-old baby dies after being struck by car in downtown Vancouver

An eleven month old baby has died following a two car collision that struck pedestrians near Hornby and Smithe on Tuesday evening.

Vancouver Police told Daily Hive one of the vehicles struck two pedestrians, and the 31-year-old father of the baby was taken to hospital. His injuries are unknown at this time.

The suspect was also taken to hospital. His injuries are also unknown, according to police.

They added that the investigation is ongoing.

The entire intersection of Hornby and Smithe streets was blocked off by police tape after the evening rush hour on Tuesday, with an SUV on the sidewalk of the northwest part of the intersection — and another badly damaged sports car nearby.
