It may not come as a surprise, based on previous limited edition Compass collections, but the latest TransLink Hello Kitty collectible has folks in a tizzy.

Daily Hive Urbanized recently reported the wild lengths folks went through to gain access to the cards in the first place.

Now, early adopters are reselling the kitty collectibles for hundreds of dollars.

TransLink announced the Hello Kitty collection at the end of March. The collectibles are a partnership with Sanrio, the brand behind Hello Kitty and friends. The new cards feature four “supercute” designs showcasing Hello Kitty alongside fan favourites like My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and other friends.

Each bundle was priced at $49.99 and included one Compass Card and a matching luggage tag.

However, some folks who got their hands on the cards are aiming to make a profit and then some.

One Craigslist post has the card listed at $80, adding that they have all variants for sale.

$80 is actually reasonable compared to some of the listings we’ve encountered.

Another Craigslist post has the collectible Compass Cards listed for $130 each!

If you thought that was bad, someone has the cards listed for over twice that amount.

Facebook Marketplace also has several posts with the Hello Kitty cards listed for way more than TransLink was selling them for.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen TransLink’s Compass collectible lineup leading to wild resales.

In 2023, TransLink released a limited run of trolley bus Compass Cards. After just over an hour, the collectibles were already being listed on Facebook Marketplace.

For the Hello Kitty collectible Compass Cards, purchases were limited to two bundles per person at a pop-up at Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, while supplies lasted. However, they were sold out late Saturday afternoon.
