Police and the BC Coroners Service are investigating a fatal weekend accident that took place at Harrison Lake.

On Sunday morning, at approximately 10 am, Agassiz RCMP received a report of a capsized vehicle on the lake.

According to an email from the RCMP, police, as well as Search and Rescue crews, located “two deceased people inside of a partially submerged motor vehicle.”

A third person was outside of the vehicle and was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP say that the BC Coroners Service, the Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), and the Lower Mainland Underwater Recovery Team (URT) are working to gather evidence and investigate the apparent collision.

“Evidence gathered to this point of our investigation indicates that a motor vehicle left a roadway and came to rest in the lake,” says Corporal Mike Rail, Media Spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

Cpl. Rail adds that the investigation does not involve a marine vessel, as originally reported by police.
