Happy Lemon opening bubble tea shop on Robson Street

Happy Lemon, the China-based global tea chain, is expanding their presence in the Vancouver-area, and will be opening up a shop on Robson Street.

Launched in Shanghai in 2006 by a Taiwanese tea pro, Happy Lemon now has outposts all over the world, including a handful in the US and a fairly new one in Richmond, BC.

Happy Lemon specializes in take-away cups of teas in an array of colours and flavours, all in their signature winking lemon face cup. Or, as they put it on their official site: “Happy Lemon aims to promote a new tea culture; tea is Chinese culture and Happy Lemon aims to make tea a world’s culture.”

Their menu includes a range of drinks in several categories: Milk Tea, Lemon, Smoothies, Specialities, Yakult, and Salted Cheese. Say what? Yep, Salted Cheese is a popular novelty ingredient in tea drinks, and Happy Lemon is known for this–they describe it as “creamy cheese with a hint of rock salt” that goes like a waterfall in your cup.

Happy Lemon’s Vancouver outpost is opening inside a former retail space on Robson near Bute, underneath the empty All Star Wings. Keep an eye on their Facebook for opening details. If you can’t wait, head to Richmond. They opened last month there at 6011 No 3 Road in unit #105.
