Kingston, Ontario is the happiest place in Canada, according to a new study by Jetpac City Guides. Canada’s three largest urban cities, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, all landed at the bottom of the happy index.
However, this study is far from being scientific. The travel app went through over a 100 million Instagram photos and proceeded to count the smiles on people’s faces to compile a “smile score.”
The size of each smile led to a higher smile score. A grin doesn’t score as high as a wide, teeth showing smile.
Whistler came just ahead of Canada’s three largest urban areas while Kingston topped the list. According to Jetpac, “It looks like the secret to finding happiness in Canada is either speaking French, being in Saskatchewan or being a student in Ontario.”
