Halford and Brough announce future plans after Sportsnet 650 shutdown
They’re back.
Mike Halford and Jason Brough have survived another sports-radio shutdown, with their show officially emerging from the Sportsnet 650 rubble on Thursday.
The Nation Network has landed the popular sports-talk duo, announcing that Halford and Brough in the Morning will return on Sept. 28. The new show will air live from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily via YouTube and will be available for download on other podcast platforms.

“Giddy up,” Brough said via social media.
“Mornin’. We are back,” Halford added. “It’s the same show, different platform. Talking (all) sports in the morning, having a laugh, arguing with Brough, mangling live reads.”
Popular producer Andy Cole, the man responsible for the show’s hilarious jingles, is also making the jump to the Nation Network.
We’ll have to wait and see what the new show looks and sounds like, but we do know that it’ll include Rick Dhaliwal.
“I will be on Halbro every Friday, another season of them ripping me,” Dhaliwal joked on social media.
The Nation Network now has a loaded lineup of local sports podcasts, as Halford and Brough join Sekeres and Price, Rink Wide, and Canucks Conversation. With sports radio now a thing of the past, expect Vancouver Canucks fans to flock to digital audio in larger numbers than ever.
As for other former Sportsnet 650 personalities, Thomas Drance has announced that he won’t be starting a new show. He has instead decided to focus on writing at The Athletic and will appear twice a week on Donnie and Dhali. His former co-host, Jamie Dodd, has joined Jeff Paterson as a co-host on Rink Wide. Brendan Batchelor and Randip Janda will continue to call Canucks games on the radio, though the 104.9 FM broadcast is not expected to include a pre- or post-game show. We still await word on Satiar Shah, Bik Nizzar, and others.
