If ripping down a slope on your skis or snowboard and attempting to get across a freezing cold pond of water without falling in is your idea of a good time, then Grouse Mountain has what you’re looking for.

On Saturday, April 20, the 2019 Slush Cup will once again descend on the popular North Vancouver ski resort.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of a Slush Cup, the object is simply to make it across a pool of water, on your skis or board, without falling in, while decked out in a ridiculous costume.

Sounds easy enough, right? Well, you may be surprised at how tricky it can be. And therein lies the fun.

The action kicks off at 1 pm and goes until 4 pm, followed by an awards ceremony and après fun with live music.

Participants can hit the pond as many times as they want, and prizes will be given to the best costume, best trick, best crash, crowd favourite, and more.

Those under the age of 19 must have a parent/legal guardian sign the event waiver on their behalf. Helmets are required to participate in the event, and are available for rental at Guest Services. No ski poles are allowed in the pond

Registration is $10, but the cost of admission is not included – lift tickets and passes are available for purchase at Guest Services at the base of Grouse Mountain.

Those who don’t feel like making the attempt themselves are highly encouraged to come out and be a part of the action as spectators.
