Get your skis shined up – wait, make that skates.
While Grouse Mountain is still not open yet for skiing and snowboarding, visitors can get a taste of winter starting today, as the resort opens its skating pond.
The pond officially opens Friday at 1 pm, and Grouse Mountain passholders can use it for free. Patrons can bring their own equipment or rent their gear from the fireside hut.
Those looking to make some turns however, may have to wait just a little bit longer. As of Friday morning, the resort’s website was reporting a total snow base of only 16 centimetres.
Hello snow!
Meanwhile, at Cypress Mountain, the snow continues to fall, as the resort inches closer towards a now unspecified opening date.
Yes, it was supposed to open this Friday, but it seems Mother Nature did not cooperate.
