Green Party wins historic seat in Atlantic Canada

Jenica Atwin is the Green Party’s first MP ever to be elected in Atlantic Canada after she won Fredericton, knocking out former Liberal incumbent Matt DeCourcey, who has come in third behind the Greens and Tories.

Atwin won with 9,808 votes, ahead of Tories’ Andrea Johnson with 8,411 votes, followed by DeCourcey in third with 7,707 votes.

Liberals – 145
Conservatives – 106
NDP – 20
Bloc – 33
Greens – 1
PPC – 0
