Police have now released more details on what happened. They say the assault was a fatal stabbing.Ā
There was a serious assault in downtown Vancouver’s entertainment district overnight, and the police investigation into what happened has Granville Street closed.
Granville was completely shut down between Smithe and Nelson streets Friday morning, with multiple police vehicles on scene and tape cordoning off the road.

Const. Tania Visintin with the Vancouver Police Department told Daily Hive officers are investigating the serious assault.
“[We] will have more information later today as the investigation unfolds,” she said.
