Granville Island is about to get more colourful thanks to nine new murals that will be unveiled at the Art Smash Street Party.
The new murals will be revealed on May 12 at The Chain & Forge – Granville Island’s newest public space – located underneath the Granville Street Bridge.
At the heart of the installation, painted on the pillars of the bridge, will be a monumental mural designed by Musqueam artist Debra Sparrow. Other participating artists include Ruben Sanchez, an international artist visiting from Spain, and local artists, Sandeep Johal, JNasty, James Harry, Lauren Brevner, Eric Louie, Kari Kristensen, Victoria Sieczka, and KC Hall.
The event will also feature live mural painting, live music from DJs, food trucks, a wide selection of beers from BC craft breweries, and live dance performances.
The Chain & Forge will also be open to the public from May 1 to 10 for public viewings of the artists’ work.
