In case you’re still not sure why the Georgia Viaduct has been completely closed since Friday evening, this is the reason for its closure.
The Georgia Viaduct, the three-lane arterial bypass road out of downtown, has been turned into the red carpet walk for the JUNO Awards, which kicks off tonight at 5 pm at Rogers Arena.
The short span of the viaduct between Citadel Parade and The Sportsbar LIVE! at Rogers Arena is completely decked out with a long, continuous tent that leads straight into the stadium.
VIP guests have been arriving at the red carpet all afternoon, including host Michael Buble who arrived shortly before 3 pm. And there is also a small crowd of fans gathered at the entrance to the red carpet.

Traffic redirection on the route starts at around the intersection of Homer Street and West Georgia Street.
The Dunsmuir Viaduct route into the downtown peninsula remains open and is not affected.
The City of Vancouver says the Georgia Viaduct will reopen by 3 am Monday following the dismantling of the red carpet structures.
