'They show up': Residents share how to tell someone isn't from Vancouver

Vancouver is a melting pot of people from all over the world, and in a recent discussion on social media, residents shared how they know when someone isn’t from this city.
It also seemed to reveal that people who are from Vancouver might be somewhat flakey, according to what some residents said.
The Reddit discussion got a lot of attention and nearly 700 comments with various opinions.

One Redditor suggested a giveaway that someone isn’t from Vancouver is that they don’t know the difference between West Side, West End, and West Vancouver. However, it’s probably safe to say that many locals also don’t know the difference between West End and West Side.
“I’m geographically challenged. Despite having grown up here, I still don’t know the answer to this,” one user said.
Another popular point of discussion that residents brought up was the weather.
One Redditor said that folks who aren’t from here aren’t complaining that it’s hot “when it’s only 22°C outside.”
Someone responded in a very SeaBus Memes type of way, saying, “Vancouverites have a very delicate disposition. They thrive when the temp is exactly 21.5C, no more and no less.”
One response that local cyclists will probably resonate with is the opinion that people who aren’t from here tend to walk in the bike lanes on the Stanley Park Seawall.

As we alluded to, some responses seem to suggest that Vancouver residents think that locals are flakey. One user responded that if you invite someone over for drinks who isn’t from Vancouver, “they show up.”
One Redditor responded, “And they’re on time or early somehow.”
