Winter is undoubtedly coming, Vancouverites.
In this city, the weather can really sneak up on you. One minute the sun is shining, the next you’re shoveling snow from your driveway post-Snowpocalypse. But there’s no sense in complaining about it, right?
The best thing you can do is get prepared ahead of time. And if you’re planning to do some winter road trips (Whistler or Big White, anyone?), you’ll want to make sure you’ve got some hardy winter tires on your car.
Winter tires are mandatory on most routes and highways in BC from October 1 through April 30 in accordance with BC Law. And if you don’t have them, well… passenger vehicles can be fined a whopping $109.
Nobody likes getting a fine, especially as we approach the holidays. To avoid that happening to you altogether, we’ve partnered with Mr. Lube to give away a $1,000 credit towards a set of winter tires.

Tire installation/Mr. Lube
Mr. Lube has 15 convenient locations in the Greater Vancouver Area and each one is open seven days a week. This means you can stop by at a time that suits your schedule and get same-day tire service — no appointment needed.
According to Transport Canada, as soon as temperatures reach 7 degrees Celsius or below, it’s time to switch to winter tires. This is because all-season and summer tires start to lose elasticity, resulting in reduced traction on the roads. So, be sure to keep an eye on the temperature daily, or get ahead of the game by visiting a Mr. Lube near you!
