There's free public transit across Metro Vancouver this New Year's Eve

Dec 12 2019, 11:04 pm

TransLink will be helping revellers across Metro Vancouver enjoy their New Year’s Eve celebrations, all while starting 2020 safely.

The public transit authority will be offering free public transit service across the entire region between 5 pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, to 5 am on Wednesday, January 1, 2019. This means free rides on all buses, all three SkyTrain lines, West Coast Express, and the SeaBus.

Throughout the night and early morning hours, revellers are also advised to take advantage of the many night bus routes clustered in TransLink’s Night Bus Hub — the area around the intersection of West Georgia Street and Granville Street.

SkyTrain will be running approximately one hour later, with the last train leaving Waterfront Station at 2:18 am for the Expo Line and 2:12 am for the Canada Line. For those making eastbound connections to the Millennium Line, the last Millennium Line train leaving Commercial-Broadway Station will be at 2:26 am.

For the full last train schedule on New Year’s Eve, visit TransLink’s website.

SeaBus will also be operating an hour later — the last sailing from Lonsdale Quay will be at 2 am; the last SeaBus from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay is scheduled for 2:22 am.

There will be West Coast Express service on New Year’s Eve, however, it will operate with regular service moving westbound and additional service travelling eastbound.
