Free outdoor movies Vancouver 2017 at Stanley Park schedule

One of the most popular summertime events in the city is back as free outdoor movies return to Stanley Park this summer!

The Evo Summer Cinema Series at Stanley Park – “in the park after dark” free outdoor movies – returns every Tuesday from July 4 to August 22 at the Grand Lawn at Ceperley Meadows near Second Beach.

“Stanley Park is the jewel in the crown of Vancouver, and has proven to be one of the most perfect locations to host a free summer movie night that the whole family can enjoy,” said Jason Bashnick, Fresh Air Cinema festival organizer. “People love the experience of watching a free movie under the stars. This year is going to be bigger, and even better – with many brand-new activities and one of the best movie lineups we’ve ever curated. There’ll be something special for everyone.”

The site will be outfitted with a four-story inflatable movie screen, transforming the area into a magical outdoor cinema within a matter of hours, fit for thousands of Vancouverites to visit and watch flicks throughout the summer.

Daily Hive Vancouver is once again proud to be the exclusive Online Media Partner of Fresh Air Cinema, and after readers took part in our annual Viewers’ Choice Flick Pick contest, the 1995 hit Toy Story has come out on top to make this year’s movie lineup.

Lawn seating at Ceperley Meadows is free and there’s plenty of space, but if you want a good spot to watch the evening flick be sure to get there early as it’s first-come-first-serve seating.  Be there before dusk and take part in the many fun pre-show activities, including games, prizes, and giveaways, as well as the weekly offering of food truck fare and classic movie treats.

As a gentle reminder, please bring your own blankets and/or lawn chairs and, since it’s a family-friendly event, smoking or alcohol is not permitted. Movie goers are encouraged to walk, take transit, or bike to Stanley Park for the shows  – there will be a bike valley service offered on site each night too.

Food delivered to your seat

New this year, Fresh Air Cinema has partnered with on-demand food delivery service foodora to give moviegoers the ability to order meals from local restaurants and have it delivered right to your blanket or lawn chair.

Best seat in the house

If you want to guarantee the best seat in the house, Fresh Air Cinema has created an 80-seat reserved Topshop/Topman Gold Circle VIP area at the front of the lawn, perfect if you want to show up and have your seats waiting for you.

They’ve also partnered with restaurants in the West End BIA to offer a “Dinner and a Movie” package with a three-course dinner and reserve seats.

Be part of the circle or book a package at SummerCinema.ca.
