Fraser Valley overpass strike causes 'visible damage' and delays on Highway #1

Afternoon commuters should take note that an overpass strike is currently causing delays on Highway #1 in Chilliwack.
According to a statement from BC Highway Patrol, it is investigating after a tractor-trailer carrying an overweight load struck the #3 Road overpass eastbound on Highway #1.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. after the tractor-trailer towing a loaded flat deck got stuck in the slow lane.
The truck and the load have both been removed from under the overpass and moved to the side of the road.
The overpass has visible damage, but B.C. Highway Patrol noted the collision did not appear to impact its overall structural integrity.
The B.C. Ministry of Transportation is evaluating the damage, and B.C. Highway Patrol is working with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) to determine if any penalties will be given to the driver and the company involved.
Although the collision has been cleared, delays are expected in the area.
