A giant 30,000 sq. ft. pickleball facility just opened its doors in Metro Vancouver

Get ready, pickleball players of Vancouver: a huge new facility has opened its doors in Burnaby, and it is ready for you to bring your A-game.
The new Inclusive Place of Pickleball (IPOP) has taken over the old Safeway at The City of Lougheed in Burnaby.
The 30,000 sq. ft. indoor pickleball facility is being touted as the first large-scale, fully dedicated pickleball venue in the region, and the owners invite everyone to pick up a paddle and join in the fast-growing sport.

“We’re excited to provide an inclusive space for everyone, from beginners to pros, to enjoy pickleball without having to wait for a court,” said Chris White, CEO and chief paddle officer (CPO) of IPOP, in a release.
“This facility is a game-changer, allowing people to experience pickleball’s physical, mental, and social benefits in an environment that welcomes all.”
The IPOP facility offers nine regulation-sized pickleball courts, as well as leagues, ladder play, drop-in play, and gamified practice areas.
There will also be coaching for all levels, youth programming, tournaments, and social mixers.

IPOP is the official partner of the Minor League Pickleball (MiLP) in the Lower Mainland, which will provide players with a pathway to reach the Canadian National Pickleball League. The facility is also a partner with the BC Lung Foundation.
According to the Canadian-owned company, the Burnaby venue will be the flagship in IPOP’s growing network, with additional locations under development in cities like Surrey, Victoria, North Vancouver, and Nanaimo.

“This isn’t just about opening more courts,” added White. “It’s about building community — creating spaces where people can grow their skills, build friendships, and discover the joy of the game. That’s what IPOP is all about.”
