COVID-19 cases prompt closure of fourth school in Fraser Health region

Another school in the Fraser Health region will temporarily close for two weeks due to COVID-19 cases.

In a statement, Fraser Health says it is “working closely” with Abbotsford Christian School to manage COVID-19 exposure at the middle school.

So far, six cases have been identified at the private school.

The school will “functionally close” due to staffing challenges resulting from managing the clusters.

This comes after three schools in the Fraser Health region announced their closures due to multiple cases over the weekend.

Fraser Health says it follows “rigorous protocol” if a student or teacher tests positive for COVID-19:

  • Contact tracing is initiated to determine how the individual was infected and who they were in close contact with in order to advise for self-monitoring or isolation.
  • Public Health staff works closely with the school and school district throughout the case and contact management process to maintain close communication with the school community.
