That new Italian eatery opening in the former Hapa Izakaya Coal Harbour location (909 Cordova Street) is almost ready to welcome patrons inside.
Francesco’s Ristorante, the new version of Don Francesco’s Ristorante which quietly shuttered in 2017, will be officially opening on Thursday, September 20.
- Where to get the best ramen in Metro Vancouver
- Highly-anticipated Vancouver ice cream shop FINALLY opening tomorrow
- Where to find the best cheap eats in Richmond
The Francesco’s brand, name, and the menu were purchased by a former employee of the original restaurant, and the team says patrons can expect the same eatery they knew and loved on Burrard, but with some slight changes.
One of those will be a refreshed branding and interior decor, but you’ll still see that old school Italian charm present in these elements that keep the tradition alive.

As for the menu, it’s been described as “virtually the same.” Other than a few changes here or there, foodies can dig into Francesco’s classics they know and love (hello, crab and ricotta cannelloni).
Francesco’s will be open Thursday to Saturday from 11 am to midnight and Sunday to Wednesday from 11 am to 11 pm.
