Four suspects in custody following shooting in Surrey

Surrey RCMP has taken four suspects into custody following a shooting in Surrey on Monday afternoon.

According to a release from RCMP, “on May 18, 2020, at approximately 3:30 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to reports of the sound of a gunshot coming from a residence in the 12900-block 111 Avenue.”

“Police contained the residence, arrested the occupants, and have confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the shooting.”

One individual was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening arm injury, believed by police to have been sustained during an altercation inside the residence.

Surrey RCMP confirmed that the residence is known to police.

“The initial indications are that this shooting was a result of a dispute between parties known to one another,” Surrey RCMP wrote in a release.

“There is no indication of an on-going threat to public safety.”

The investigation is ongoing, and the area will remain cordoned off while the police investigation continues.

Police will also be in the area canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and surveillance videos.
