There’s a new addition to Vancouver Canucks television broadcasts this season, and he’s a familiar face.

Alex Auld has confirmed that he’ll be a regular on Canucks broadcasts, as he joins Dan Murphy as a mainstay on Sportsnet’s intermission panel during home games. The 45-year-old former Canucks goaltender has appeared on four broadcasts already this season.

“Back in the hockey conversation this season with TV analysis on Canucks broadcasts,” Auld said via social media. “Expect game takes, Canucks coverage, and thoughts on the game beyond the NHL, from the pros down to the rink your kids play at. Some exciting things coming soon. Good to be back.”

Auld has been part of the Canucks media scene before, first joining Sportsnet 650 as an analyst in 2017.

The intermission panel has undergone a number of changes, with Satiar Shah and Landon Ferraro not involved this season. Shah, who recently debuted a new podcast, is no longer employed by Sportsnet, following the fall of Sportsnet 650. Ferraro, meanwhile, left to take a job as colour commentator with TSN on Winnipeg Jets broadcasts.

Dave Tomlinson will feature on the panel on nights that Ray Ferraro is in the colour commentator’s chair, while Iain MacIntyre will also get TV time.

Auld appeared in 237 NHL games during a 12-year pro hockey career. The Cold Lake, Alta., native played parts of four seasons for the Canucks. He was named team MVP after suiting up for a whopping 67 games in 2005-06, prior to being dealt to the Florida Panthers as part of a blockbuster trade that saw Roberto Luongo and Todd Bertuzzi change teams.

Auld went on to play for the Phoenix Coyotes, Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, and Montreal Canadiens, in addition to the Canucks and Panthers.
