Folk Festival This Weekend - Tips for a Great Festival Experience!

Dec 19 2017, 7:20 pm

Vancouver Folk Festival starts tonight at Jericho Beach. Planning on spending most of the day or night there? Read our handy guide to make sure you’re prepared!

The Vancouver Folk Festival drops this weekend on Jericho Beach Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. More information here.

Stay Hydrated

This is an easy one, but also simple to neglect when you’re soaking up rays and fun. You can find plenty of water fountains at the venue, so make sure to being your own reusable bottles.

Rain or Shine

Vancouver’s hot spell runs through the weekend, so make sure to bring adequate sunscreen, hats, and cover. (Note, that tall lawn chairs and tents aren’t allowed.)

Also, there’s a chance for rain this weekend, so make sure to bring some waterproof gear. A water-resistant tarp to sit on is especially handy.

Pack a Picnic

Folk Festival allows you to bring in your own food, so pack a spread. A few baguettes, cold cuts, cheese… what could be better? No alcohol permitted, so leave your flask at home. Or, cool down with a pint at one of the many restaurants on 4th – just a short hop away!

Buy Lunch & More

Not the DIY type? Folk has you covered with their infamously delicious food stalls. From dim sum to donairs, from bannock to BBQ, from coffee to corn, there is something to tickle your taste buds.

Reserve Your Spot Early

The main stage is where all the action happens at night. Most festival-goers will stake out territory early to get the best view. Bring a tarp or blanket and do the same!

Go Shopping

The Artisan Market showcases the works of artists and artisans from BC and  far a-field, who create handcrafted items for your shopping pleasure.  The Folk Bazaar, located ocean-front in Jericho Beach Park, is an integral part of the Festival experience, with a diverse collection of treasures to peruse. Goods range from one-of-a-kind jewellery to hand screen printed t-shirts to artisan bath and body products.
