Beloved Vancouver coffee spot is opening in flower-shaped pavilion

There’s a magical new building being constructed in the False Creek Flats, and we finally know what foodie purveyor will be going into it.

One of Vancouver’s most popular coffee spots, Nemesis Coffee, will be taking over the 2,000-sq-ft space (which is still under construction) and its team is aiming to have it open by August/September 2019.

The building’s form and massing takes inspiration from overlapping flower petals, according to local architectural firm Perkins + Will. The exterior will be covered with red metal shingles and glass windows.

The structure is comprised of prefabricated curved nail laminated timber panels, which required computational design and advanced fabrication techniques to achieve its smooth curved interior finish.

Nemesis’ primary owner Jess Reno told Daily Hive the popular coffee spot’s team has a big year ahead of them.

Reno says that while they are currently waiting for construction to wrap up (they’re hoping in the next month or so), the Nemesis folks have big plans for the stunning new location where they’re going to pull out “all the stops.”

Patrons can expect a full brew bar, along with a garden alongside the structure where the team will pick fresh produce to influence their seasonal fare.

The team has also revealed they will be working towards creating their own roasterie in this space, where people will find Nemesis’ own brand of beans.

We’ll keep you posted on more details for this incredible new structure, but for now, head to the OG Gastown location to get your Nemesis fix.
