We asked our office dogs to review this food and here’s what happened (PHOTOS)

We don’t have to say it twice: Dogs are awesome.

Whether they’re giving you their puppy-dog eyes and begging for a bite of your food, barking and going completely berserk at the slightest noise, chasing their tails, or simply being there to greet you when you arrive home from work, there’s a reason why dogs are everybody’s best friend.

All the small things dogs do just seem to put a huge smile on our faces, making our day just that much brighter. (What did we ever do to deserve dogs, honestly?)

So since dogs are the best, they deserve the best in kind.

A pioneer in using fish as a source of protein for pets, FirstMate Pet Food‘s wide range of pet food products includes Grain-Free and Grain-Friendly dry and canned varieties, which are all made in their dry-production facility and human-grade cannery (which are both approved to sell throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia).

Last week, FirstMate gave us the opportunity to treat our office dogs to their range of premium Grain Free and Grain-Friendly dog kibble, which is notably free of corn, wheat, and soy, making it optimal for daily feeding or sensitivities. The chicken fat used in FirstMate Pet Foods is processed free of protein, eliminating the risk of allergies derived from chicken.

Here we have Oscar enjoying the Wild Pacific Caught Fish Meal & Oats Formula, made from a combination of herring, anchovies, and sardines as a healthy source of protein, and two wholesome grains.

“Mom, can I eat now? Please?”

Maisie is pictured here trying the Australian Lamb Meal Formula, made with grass-fed lamb from Australia as the single protein and only one carbohydrate making this formula ideal for sensitivities. With those puppy-dog eyes, we’d probably give her the entire bag in one sitting, if we’re being honest.

Look at that tail! That tongue! We only wish we enjoyed every meal as much as Maisie does.

Mia looks like the type of dog that is fussy with their food. We can sense the apprehension leaping out this image. Let’s see how this goes.

Success! Mia is pictured here taste-testing the Cage-Free Chicken Meal & Oats Formula, made with North American-raised chicken as a single meat protein, and two wholesome grains.

And last but not least, we have Jasper. He clearly needs a protein-rich diet, and this is where FirstMate delivered! With 70% protein from free-range lamb and 30% from wholesome grains, FirstMate’s Free Range Lamb & Oats Formula is suitable for dogs both large and small.

Established in British Columbia in 1989, FirstMate is a family-owned business that originally had its roots in manufacturing fish feed. Guard dogs were common on farms at that time, and they wouldn’t stop eating the high quality, expensive fish feed. The farmers asked Taplow Feeds to make a dog food using the same ingredients — and FirstMate was born. Today, the company ships its products to stores across Canada and the world.
