First Look: The New Granville Street

(The neon lights, they shine so bright as a new neon renaissance is upon us)
The Granville Street redesign is now almost complete, its only a mere 6 months behind schedule, nothing too major. Last week they finally started installing the large tube lights (which apparently have the ability to change colour) and these lights are all part of bringing more light to the entertainment district. The city is actually encouraging shops to update their signage. All in all I think the redesign is a great start, I still think the street needs work in some areas, like the flex parking on the south side by Granville Street bridge, but beggars can’t be choosers. More photos below.

The redesign of Granville and the newly renovated Robson Square has really changed the vibe and you’ll see more and more festivals lining Granville Street like LunarFest 2010 in the coming years. I’ll have more pictures from the updated Granville Street as they come available.

(The new tube lights really brighten up the streets, especially during the dead of winter)

Here is a look at the new street furniture on Granville street. It’s kind of random but I think more seating is needed. The chairs don’t look too comfortable though.
