To some winter is a wonderous time of icy, white magic. To others, it’s a dark, frigid season meant to be endured.

And to most of us, it’s a little of both.

Love it or lump it, winter isn’t coming, it’s here as Saturday, December 21, marks the official start to the season. To help you see what the new season looks like across a country as large as Canada, we’ve rounded up some great shots of the shortest day of the year.
