A early-morning fire has completely gutted the daycare of North Vancouver’s Norgate Community Elementary school.
Firefighters were called to the scene just before 4 a.m. Flames were billowing out of the mobile homes connected together for the daycare.
The structure was not monitored by a fire alarm – firefighters are crediting an alert taxi driver for noticing the fire and calling 9-1-1.
No individuals were inside the daycare at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured from battling the blaze. There was no damage to the adjacent elementary school.
This is Metro Vancouver’s fourth holiday fire and it follows yesterday’s blaze at West Vancouver’s British Properties.
Fire is raging in the daycare near North Vancouver’s Norgate Community School. Neighbours heard “loud bang” just before 4am, saw flames.
