The annual Thai Festival will be taking over downtown Vancouver this coming weekend.
The celebration, in its fifth consecutive year, will be coming to the Vancouver Art Gallery from Saturday, July 21 to Sunday, July 22.
Visitors will have the chance to enjoy the nation’s vibrant and rich heritage and indulge in traditional cuisine, music, arts, crafts, and entertainment.
Unique experiences can be found at the event like Thai boxing, contemporary music, dance performances, and even a traditional Thai massage.
Chefs from Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, a renowned Bangkok-based culinary art school will demonstrate the fine art of fruit and vegetable carving and cooking.
Cooking fanatics will be able to learn how Western ingredients can be combined with traditional Eastern cooking and the five Thai flavours – sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and spicy.
Bites from some of Vancouver’s most popular Thai restaurants, including Sala Thai, Patsara Thai, U & I Thai, and Wow Thai Food will also be available.
An innovation booth, hosted by the Thai Game Software Industry Association, will allow attendees to test their skills on the latest Thai video games.
Vendors will also be on site selling traditional goods throughout the day.
Best of all, admission to the festival is free of charge. The event runs from 10:30 am to 8 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
