A fan is suing after claiming that a can of beer was dropped on her at a Vancouver Canucks game.

Chandni Rakkar is listed as the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed on March 9, 2026 in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Aquilini Investment Group Inc. is listed among seven defendants, as is an arena staff member listed as “Jane Doe.”

The fan claims that the incident happened March 28, 2024, on a night the Canucks lost 3-1 to the Dallas Stars at Rogers Arena.

While walking through the stands selling alcoholic drinks, a beverage hawker allegedly dropped an unopened can of beer on the plaintiff’s head and neck.

“As a result of the Incident and the negligence of the Defendants, the Plaintiff
sustained personal injuries, loss, and damages,” the plaintiff claims in court documents.

The plaintiff claims to have suffered a long list of injuries, including:

  • Mild traumatic brain injury
  • Concussion and post-concussion syndrome;
  • Neck and shoulder injury
  • Headaches
  • Eye strain
  • Light sensitivity
  • Noise sensitivity
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness and balance issues
  • Memory, concentration and focus issues
  • Chest pain
  • Fatigue/low energy
  • Sleep disruption
  • Social anxiety
  • Anxiety and depression

None of the claims have been tested in court.

Aquilini Investment Group Inc. is the holding company that owns Canucks Sports and Entertainment. Francesco Aquilini (chairman and governor) and his brother Roberto Aquilini (alternate governor) are the lone people listed as owners on the Canucks website.
