How Fable Kitchen has achieved a perfectly-balanced brunch experience
There are a ton of fantastic and innovative brunches in Vancouver, but nothing hits the spot like a home-cooked, perfectly proportioned plate of grub just like mom used to make.
Enjoying a meal like that with a price that doesn’t break the bank in a comfortable space achieves the ultimate brunch balance, if you ask us. And we know just the place you should head if this sounds up your alley – Fable Kitchen.
Chef Trevor Bird has worked to achieve a made-from-scratch menu that hardly ever disappoints, and that extends to this 4th Street gem’s weekend brunch service, which operates weekends from 10 am to 2 pm.
Patrons can choose from savoury dishes such as Benedicts with olive oil hollandaise, Pulled Pork Johnny Cakes, Steak and Eggs, and Scrambled Eggs with housemade Fable brioche and the restaurant’s signature potato rösti with chive yogurt and parmesan foam to name a few.
For sweet stuff, Fable offers Coconut Oats made with banana, apple, and turmeric granola, and French Toast which combines mascarpone, candied walnuts, and seasonal preserves.

There’s always a rotating special off-menu depending on what’s fresh in the kitchen, and it’s usually pretty drool-worthy as well.
The fact that everything is from local purveyors, made and prepped in-house, and served in the relaxed and inviting restaurant, all play into why we love heading to this spot for our favourite meal of the week.
Brunch here is walk-in only, except for the last Sunday of every month for a the restaurant’s Boozy Brunch where they feature premium cocktails: mimosas, Caesars (highly recommend), and highballs at cost price.
The menu is relatively small but it seems to have the perfect amount of options. You’ll never leave feeling overstuffed or underwhelmed, it’s the sought-after sweet spot that brunchers look for every time they try a new place, and they can definitely find it at Fable.
