$450 pizza at Steveston Pizza Company provides slices of heaven

Dec 19 2017, 6:25 pm

Steveston Pizza founder Nader Hatami has found the holy grail of marketing with his $45 a slice/$450 pizza.

Notorious for using unique flavor combinations to create original pies, Steveston Pizza has a string of awards to back up their daring creations. Today, Steveston has branched out to the Philippines (their sole branches outside Canada!).

The “C6” was a pizza invention to pay homage to Hatamis love of seafood and gourmet ingredients. Loaded with Lobster Thermidor, Smoked Salmon, Tiger Prawns and a side of Russian Osetra caviar, the pie may not be sold regularly, but it is creating a ton of buzz about the little pizza parlour.

Just below the C6 for a whopping $120 a pizza is the C5, adorned with roasted garlic, Icelandic scampi, smoked steelhead and lobster ratatouille. Both need to be ordered at least one day in advance to allow for the acquisition of ingredients.

While Steveston Pizza may be pricey, it is not the world’s most expensive at this time, according to the Guinness World Records website.

“The most expensive pizza, commercially available, is a thin-crust, wood fire-baked pizza topped with onion puree, white truffle paste, fontina cheese, baby mozzarella, pancetta, cep mushrooms, freshly picked wild mizuna lettuce and garnished with fresh shavings of a rare Italian white truffle, itself worth £1,400 (then $2,500) per 1 kg (2 lb 3 oz),” according to Guinness World Records. “Depending upon the amount of truffles available each season, the pizza is regularly sold at £100 (then $178) each to customers of Gordon Ramsey’s Maze restaurant, London, UK.”
