Elias Pettersson just tied Pavel Bure's rookie record

Elias Pettersson has a serious chance to etch his name into the Vancouver Canucks 49-year-old franchise record book.

On Sunday, Pettersson registered an assist on the Canucks’ second goal, tying the team record for points by a rookie.

That magic number? Sixty, tying him with Pavel Bure and Ivan Hlinka. Those impressive records were set in the 1991-92 and 1981-82 seasons, respectively.

And the rookie has a chance of beating that points record when the team faces off against the Chicago Blackhawks Monday night.

Already a clear frontrunner to win the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year, Pettersson leads all NHL rookies this season in goals, assists and points.
