Elias Pettersson is injured and missing tonight's Canucks game

Elias Pettersson will miss his first game of the season tonight, the Vancouver Canucks have announced.

Pettersson took the pre-game skate, but was a surprise last-minute scratch due to a “lower body injury.”

The injury is likely due to getting banged up Tuesday in Boston, when Bruins defenceman Matt Grzelcyk delivered a late hit on Pettersson in the first period. Pettersson was clearly shook up by the hit, which somehow went unpenalized, but he completed the game.

Following the game, the usually calm and calculated head coach Travis Green sounded off, saying, “Those are hits that the league is trying to get out of the game,” before adding, “That should have been a penalty all day long.”
