Edmonton Oilers are going back to the Stanley Cup Final and it begins next week

The Edmonton Oilers are headed back to the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight year.

The Oilers were able to eliminate the Dallas Stars by a 6-3 final in Game 5 in an outing that had a little bit of everything.

It looked like this one could be a blowout in the early going, as the Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 goal less than 10 minutes into the first. The Stars were able to make things interesting the rest of the way, but were unable to overcome their ugly start.

The Oilers are heading into the Stanley Cup Final playing some of their best hockey as of late, as they were able to take out both the Stars and Vegas Golden Knights, two serious contenders in the Western Conference, in just five games.

Now, the Oilers will prepare for a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final versus the Florida Panthers, who were also able to get through the Eastern Conference Final in just five games in a dominant showing versus the Carolina Hurricanes.

Last year, it was the Panthers who were able to win it all in a series that went the distance. This will mark their third consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup Final.

The big difference this time around is that it will be the Oilers who have home-ice advantage.

Game 1 is set to take place on Wednesday, June 4 at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The series shifts to Florida for the first time on June 9.
