The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers look to be on a collision course for a Stanley Cup Final rematch, and we know when it will start.
After defeating the Carolina Panthers in five games to advance to their third-straight final, the Panthers are now awaiting their opponent. As it stands, the Oilers look the most likely to advance, having a 3-1 stranglehold on their Western Conference Final series over the Dallas Stars.
Edmonton can advance to the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night with a Game 5 victory in Dallas. If they can’t find a way to get a win, Game 6 will return to the Alberta capital on Saturday night.
The NHL has planned for both outcomes, setting two potential start dates for the final.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, if the Oilers defeat the Stars in Game 5, the Stanley Cup Final is expected to begin on June 4. However, if Dallas forces Game 6, that start date will be moved to June 7.

If Edmonton can advance, they will hold home-ice advantage over the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, which is a reverse of last year’s series. That means Game 1 and Game 2 of the final will be held in the Alberta capital, forcing Florida to make the long plane ride first. It will also guarantee that a potential Game 7 will be hosted in front of the Oilers faithful in Rogers Place.
Rogers Place is set to host a Volbeat/Three Days Grace concert on June 10, which may have to be moved to accommodate a potential final. There is also a Burton Cummings and Tom Cochrane concert on June 21 and a Katy Perry show on June 24 that could be moved if the final goes the distance once again.
There doesn’t appear to be any conflicting events at Florida’s Amerant Bank Arena.
The full schedule for the 2025 Stanley Cup Final has not yet been released, but it will be once tonight’s Game 5 between the Oilers and Stars is over.
