Driver hands keys to police after taking car through opposite lane of Massey Tunnel

One driver won’t be behind the wheel anytime soon after an apparent dangerous stint of drunk driving.

On Monday, March 11, just after 11 pm, members of the Delta Police Department (DPD) received a complaint of a car driving northbound in the southbound lane of the Massey Tunnel, the DPD said in a Tweet.

The driver then made a u-turn to go southbound on Highway 99.

According to a Facebook post, when police arrived on scene, they found the driver pulled over on the side of the road, with the car still running and the lights on.

An officer approached the vehicle, and the driver rolled down the window and immediately handed over their keys.

The driver was given a breathalyzer test and failed twice.

Police impounded the vehicle and the driver was served a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition.

Fortunately, no injuries took place during the incident.
