Fresh Air Cinema is bringing back its popular outdoor movies to Metro Vancouver, although they’ll look a little bit different this year.

Over the course of July, a number of drive-in movie events will be taking place in the Lower Mainland.

On Fridays and Saturdays until August 1, the cinema will set up shop at Semiahmoo Park in South Surrey. Visitors can expect a four-storey movie screen and classics such as Jaws, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Alladin.

Fresh Air Cinema will also be making an appearance in Cloverdale on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18.

The organization says that it plans on bringing an “outdoor movie experience” to more than 30 communities across the province.

All events will be free or by donation, with 100% of the proceeds going towards local charities in each community.

According to a release from Fresh Air Cinema, the format of events has also been changed to align with physical distancing guidelines.

Attendance will be limited to 50 vehicles and movie-goers are encouraged to stay in their vehicles unless they’re using the restroom. Mingling between cars and other guests is discouraged and anyone who breaks the rules will be asked to leave immediately.

While attendance is free of charge, tickets will need to be claimed online and can be found on Eventbrite.
