Downtown Vancouver sinkhole leads to emergency repairs and lane closures

Commuters in downtown Vancouver should be aware of some lane closures as crews work to repair a sinkhole that has appeared at a busy intersection.
In a statement to Daily Hive, the City of Vancouver said crews were made aware of surface damage at the intersection of Thurlow Street and Robson Street.

“Crews investigated and identified that it was a small sinkhole along an old utility trench,” stated the City.
Emergency repairs are underway.
“There are lane closures at the intersection at Robson Street and Thurlow (one southbound lane remains open) while work is underway,” stated the City. It is also noted on X that delays in the area are expected.

Photos of the impacted area show a fence and barriers set up around the sinkhole, and crews appear to be on scene directing traffic.
The City said repairs should be complete by the end of this week.
