
A funeral procession for a fallen member of Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) will close roads in downtown Vancouver today for much of the morning and early afternoon.
VFRS shared the news on social media, letting the public know that Battalion Chief Sean Bolan passed away after “a courageous battle with occupational cancer.”
VPD also shared its condolences for Bolan, saying, “Our deepest condolences to the colleagues, friends, and loved ones of Vancouver Fire Rescue Services Battalion Chief Sean Bolan. His dedication and service to the community will not be forgotten.”
VFRS has shared some information with the public on where and when the rolling road closures will take place. You can expect traffic impacts in the downtown area between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Earlier today, roads were closed on 1000 Smithe St. (Thurlow to Burrard) from 7 to 9 a.m. and at 1000 Haro St. (Cul-de-sac to Thurlow) from 7 to 9 a.m.
Between 9 and 10 a.m., 800-1000 Thurlow St. (Rosemary Brown Lane to Henshaw Lane) will be closed.
Finally, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., 1000 Nelson St. from Thurlow to Burrard will be closed. As well as 800-1000 Burrard St., from Nelson to Smithe.
VFRS has shared a map of the procession and what roads will be closed in downtown Vancouver throughout the day.
