A huge amount of prize money is up for grabs in Vancouver at the 2018 International DOTA 2 Tournament.

Typically held in Seattle, the event has made its way to Canadian soil for the first time in the tournament’s history.

The event consistently manages to outdo itself year after year and is the largest annual eSports tournament in the world.

Last year, the prize pool consisted of a whopping $25M USD, with the first-place team taking home nearly $10.9M USD.

As it stands, this year’s prize pool is sitting at $24,854,332 USD, with the chance to grow even larger before the tournament ends later this week.

The first place team (teams compete against each other in groups of five) will take home at least $10,891,906. Second place will take home $3,960,693 and third place will take home $1,732,803.

The prize pool grows each time one of the game’s millions of online players purchases ‘The International 2018 Battle Pass.’ Battle Passes grant players downloadable content, in-game upgrades, and new game modes. 25% of Battle Pass sales go directly to the competition’s prize pool.

Opening ceremonies began earlier today, with crowds flooding into Rogers Arena.

The finals of the tournament will take place on Saturday, August 25.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on Ticketmaster and live broadcasts of tournament play can be found online.
